Dedicated Leadership for HD 98's Future
Cate Brennan is a lifelong Democrat, successful nonprofit business executive, professional healthcare advocate, local community organizer and poll worker. Cate’s family moved to North Texas in 1970, and she is the fourth of six children raised in a middle-class household by parents who both worked. She attended Dallas public schools, earned a BS in journalism with minors in political science and business from the University of North Texas. She earned her MBA from Texas Woman’s University. She is a lifelong learner and participates in ongoing continuing education.
Cate was a CEO and a senior executive with multi-million-dollar national nonprofit healthcare associations for 25 years, including National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP), National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) and Association for Vascular Access (AVA). She has worked on federal and state legislation to end human trafficking, prevent brain injuries and heat-related deaths in youth sports, and to ensure effective delivery of lifesaving childhood vaccinations. She worked as a healthcare advocate at the federal and state level and directly contributed to federal and state policies in health care and human trafficking. She is a Certified Association Executive (CAE), a professional designation held by fewer than 5 percent of association executives. The CAE is considered the highest professional credential in the association industry, and professionals must meet specific experience and education requirements, complete specialized professional development, pass a rigorous exam, and pledge to uphold a code of ethics.
Cate now lives in Grapevine with her significant other and two adopted large dogs. She has one adult child in Dallas. She has two sisters and a stepmother who also live in Grapevine. Cate is running for Texas House District 98 to restore the true Texas values she grew up with: fairness, equality, diversity and grace. She is running to change the political balance in the Texas legislature and build a future that is affordable and available to all Texans for generations to come.
Why I Am Running
My name is Cate Brennan, and I am honored to be running as a Democrat for Texas House District 98. I am running because I believe our district and state deserve leadership in Austin that unites rather than divides. I am an experienced business leader and healthcare advocate who is committed to restoring the true Texas values that unite and strengthen us as a community. I am a leader who believes that we can have both prosperity and progress for everyone. We can make the pie bigger instead of carving it up in smaller pieces.
What are true Texas values? They are integrity, fairness, opportunity and, most of all, personal freedom. While HD98 is fortunate to be a wealthy district, affordability in housing, daycare and healthcare premiums are serious challenges for many of us. Most
importantly, we must fight to reverse the voucher scam and fully fund our public schools and teachers.
I am running to give you a voice in Austin and to fight for a Texas that respects everyone. Our personal freedoms and truly our way of life are under constant attack by extremist conservatives in Austin. Our fundamental rights are more than threatened—they’re being taken away from us every day. Our personal freedoms include whether to have a child and when, who we love and marry and even how we identify as a person. The extremists in Austin have gone too far and for too long with their religious right and no-taxes crusades that have undermined social safety net programs. We must vote—not just for me—but for every Democrat on the 2026 ticket to restore our rights.
Cate Brennan is dedicated to bringing positive change to HD 98. Committed to transparency, innovation and community-driven solutions, Cate aims to enhance health care, public education, support local and small businesses and protect public resources and the environment.
Vote for an experienced leader who prioritizes the needs and aspirations of every resident in our district.
Defining True Texas Values
What are the true Texas values? Texans believe in hard work, helping their neighbors, and standing up for fairness, equality and diversity. These are the values that unite us. I believe they are worth fighting for. True Texas values mean protecting our personal freedoms. This means protecting and restoring your right to a safe abortion, access to affordable and safe health care and housing, protecting and supporting LGBTQI+ people, and freely practicing whatever religion you choose. I want to ensure that everyone in HD98 has the same opportunity to a great public school education with the best teachers. I want to ensure that each person can earn a living wage and have equal opportunity to thrive economically and culturally without fear. We Texans value integrity and must demand that our representatives adhere to the law and apply it fairly to all. We must ensure our government operates without bias to religion, race, legal immigration status or political party.
