Much has changed in House District 98 since 2022. Here are the top 10 reasons why Cate Brennan will win in November 2026. But we really need your help. Cate's opponent spent $1.3 MILLION in the primary to beat his opponent (who spent an astounding $2 million). But, Cate has an incredibly strong volunteer base so doesn't need anywhere close to that amount to beat him. Here are the top 10 reasons:

Anger about public school vouchers and school takeovers. Cate is for fully funding our public schools.

High property taxes and cost of insurances, food and gas are serious concerns and forcing some people out of their homes. Cate will work to fix that with new tax revenue.

Democrat Taylor Rehmet won the SD9 seat. There about a 50% overlap between SD9 and HD98);

Cate's opponent Armin Mizani is strongly opposed by many in Keller for his extreme conservative beliefs on freedom of religion, book banning and supporting vouchers;

There's a 10-point advantage for female candidates;

There was a 300% increase in Democratic voters in Tarrant County in the 2026 primary;

There's real MAGA fatigue. People are tired of the division and hate. Cate will work to unify us and find common ground that will benefit all those in HD98 and Texas;

Democrats like Cate are opposing data centers for their massive overuse of electricity and water, and inevitible long-term environmental harm;

People are really concerned about how we treat our neighbors and the our future freedom of religion, speech, voting rights and bodily autonomy;

It's an open seat--no incumbent to beat!

Any contribution amount on either a one-time or monthly basis will really help this shoestring campaign purchase signs, door hangers, social media ads and local outreach. Please contribute what you can and thank you! https://secure.actblue.com/donate/brennanhd98

2. WHY I’M RUNNING

Section Title: Why I’m Running

Content Summary:
Cate Brennan is running because Texas deserves leadership that brings people together and protects the freedoms that define our way of life. While HD 98 is a prosperous district, many families struggle with affordability—housing, childcare, and healthcare. At the same time, extremist politics in Austin threaten public education, personal freedom, and fairness.

Cate believes Texas can have both prosperity and progress. She is running to give HD 98 a strong, principled voice in Austin—one that defends personal freedoms, invests in public schools, and restores integrity in government.

3. DEFINING TRUE TEXAS VALUES

Section Title: What Are True Texas Values?

Core Values Bullets:

Integrity and honesty in government

Fairness, equality, and respect for diversity

Personal freedom and individual liberty

Strong public schools and opportunity for every child

Separation of church and state

Expanded Copy:
True Texas values mean standing up for personal freedom—freedom to make healthcare decisions, freedom to love and marry who you choose, freedom of religion, and freedom from government interference in our private lives. Cate Brennan believes government should work for people, not impose ideology.

4. ISSUES & PRIORITIES
A. Public Education: Excellence, Not Vouchers

Key Points:

Oppose school vouchers and corporate outsourcing of education

Fully fund public schools and raise teacher pay

Protect academic freedom and critical thinking

Oppose state takeovers and religiously biased curriculum

Support local control of schools

Message:
Public schools are the backbone of HD 98. Vouchers drain taxpayer dollars from public schools and send them to unregulated private institutions. Cate will fight to repeal the voucher scam and ensure every child has access to a high-quality public education.

B. Affordability: Housing, Healthcare & Daycare

Housing:

Expand affordable housing options

Support first-time homebuyers

Restrict predatory corporate investors

Healthcare:

Expand Medicaid

Lower insurance premiums

Improve mental health, prenatal, maternal, and pediatric care

Daycare:

Reduce childcare costs for working families

Support a childcare model similar to New Mexico

Ensure every child has a safe, affordable place to learn

C. Protecting Personal Freedoms

Key Positions:

Defend bodily autonomy and reproductive rights

Support marriage equality and LGBTQI+ rights

Uphold separation of church and state

Protect privacy, free speech, and academic integrity

Message:
Government has no place in our most personal decisions. Cate Brennan will defend individual liberty with a principled, freedom-centered approach.

D. Promoting Integrity in Government

Key Points:

Transparency and ethical governance

Protect voting rights and expand access to voting

End partisan gerrymandering

Apply laws fairly without bias
